Merit Scholarships
For selected candidates, Moore Stephens LLP will provide funding of S$10,000 for their last year at University. On joining the Firm, candidates will be placed on the “Fast Track” Management Trainee Programme. This programme is designed to enable the selected candidate to become a Partner of the firm in the shortest possible time, i.e. between seven and eight years.

First Year
The Fast Track programme will encompass the following:
- 3 months with Risk Management;
- 3 months with Transaction Services; and
- 6 months with Audit Assurance.
The candidate will be exposed to a variety of clients, including at least 2 public listed company engagements. At the end of the first year, the candidate will be promoted to an Associate 1.

Second Year
In the second year, the candidate will be exposed to the following:
- Responsible for at least 3 audit engagements, reporting directly to a Manager, and
leading a team of at least 1 junior Associate;
- Work on at least 2 public listed company engagements; and
- Involved in at least 1 IPO engagement.
The candidate will be individually assessed at the end of each engagement in order to determine his strengths, weaknesses, and individual training needs.
Individual assessment and development programme will be established for the following year. The candidate will be promoted to a Senior II at the end of the second year.
- Third Year
The candidate will act as the lead senior for the firm’s more important clients. This will include:
- Leading the team for at least 2 public listed company engagements;
- Acting as the lead senior on an IPO or similar engagement;
- Due diligence, forensic investigation or similar nature engagement, including the drafting of the report; and
- Participate in an overseas secondment programme for a period of 3 months.
Individual assessment and development programme will be established for the following year. The candidate will be promoted to a Senior I at the end of the third year.
- Fourth Year
As a Senior I, the candidate will be expected to a lead number of important audit engagements. In addition, the candidate will be expected to:
- Develop management skills by acting as a mentor to more junior staff members;
- Be involved in the development and presentation of training programmes (the candidate will be sent on a “train the trainer programme”); and
- Enhance report writing skills by leading at least two forensic accounting and / or transaction services engagements (the candidate will be sent on a business writing skill course).
Individual assessment and development programme will be established for the following year. The candidate will be promoted to an Assistant Manager at the end of the fourth year.
- Fifth Year
As an Assistant Manger, the candidate will be responsible for a portfolio of clients ranging from private to public listed companies, reporting directly to the respective engagement Partners. The objective will be for the candidate to familiarise himself with the clients’ businesses and management.
The candidate will also enhance his managerial skills for the next two years. He will be enrolled on a formalised management skills course. The candidate will deal with and be expected to provide constructive advice to Partners on more complex accounting and auditing issues.
Individual assessment and development programme will be established for the following year. The candidate will be promoted to a Manager at the end of the fifth year.
- Sixth Year
As a manager, the candidate will be expected to handle larger audit assignments, coupled with dealing with increasingly complex accounting and auditing issues. The candidate will enhance his management skills in dealing with both staff and clients. There will be further involvement in managing the affairs of the firm, i.e. recruitment, staff retention, training and practice development.
Individual assessment and development programme will be established for the following year. The candidate will be promoted to a Senior Manager at the end of the sixth year.
- Seventh Year
As a Senior Manager the candidate will have an enhanced leadership role and will be expected to take on further management responsibilities. Apart from acting as the focal point for some of the firm’s major client, the candidate will assume further management responsibilities within the firm from both a technical and administrative perspective.
Formalised training will be provided to further enhance the candidate’s managerial and leadership skills. It is expected that the candidate will be promoted to a Partner by the end of the seventh year.
Commitment to the Firm
To show their commitment, candidates are expected to complete at least 2 years of service on joining the firm.
